Action Call to Define Marriage

i know this is a touchy subject but as the media gets to put out their 411 on it, everyone else should too and from there, we can decide for ourselves based on all the information we have,

Do not be fooled by the media... it is not about "equal rights" because churches would lose their rights to conduct and discriminate on marriages both same-sex and heterosexual...fear retaliation and lawsuits... churches would have no rights to conduct their religious rights... it isn't equal rights.

I know a homosexual who I respect dearly and we are able to have civil conversations on this topic. He brought up a great point and it has stuck with me. The reason why the other side has such great momentum for this is not only because of these 4 judges but because opponents of Prob 8 can site endlessly the ineffectiveness of traditional marriage. Because heterosexual couples have not kept it traditional and sacred ourselves, then the traditional definition of marriage is really a free for all. Had there been a great standard that was adhered to across the board, and as long as it remains unattainable by other groups, then the harder it would be for redefining and acknowledgment by people and the state. He says, as long as you have Britney Spears' 24 hour marriages, and gay couples are able to raise better children backed by research showing a child turns out better with 2 married parents instead of one, and statistics show that gay couples earn more and providing better while single mothers are mostly in poverty levels out there raising children, then why should they not have just as much right to get married? Until heterosexuals get their act and family together, there is little value in all of it. And no, he doesn't think that gays should be able to marry. Yes, he says he is homosexual all the way in a committed and loving relationship with his partner for 8 years now and does not endorse in anyway what he calls the "gay flamboyant lifestyles" but he does believe that marriage was designed only for a man and a woman.
